Krejcir witness concludes testimony

The first State witness in the trial of Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and five others concluded his testimony in the High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, on Friday.

After five days, self-confessed former drug dealer Vusi Msimango was released from the dock, but was told to remain available as he could be recalled.

In his evidence on Friday, Msimango said he thought Krejcir was joking when he saw him approach Bheki Lukhele with a kettle of boiling water. Lukhele had earlier been kidnapped from his Katlehong home.

Krejcir allegedly poured the boiling water over Lukhele’s head.

Msimango told the court Krejcir said: “Look at me… Do you know who I am?”

During this testimony, Krejcir turned to look at his wife Katerina Krejcirova, who sat in the court gallery next to another woman. The three of them laughed.

Msimango has told the court he was recruited to help find a man named Doctor, who had disappeared with 25kg of tik. Doctor worked at a cargo company at OR Tambo International Airport and was tasked with transporting the drugs to Australia.

Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, warrant officers Samuel Modise Maropeng and George Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya have pleaded not guilty to charges of dealing in drugs, attempted murder, and kidnapping.

They allegedly kidnapped and tortured Doctor’s brother Bheki Lukhele to try and make him reveal his brother’s whereabouts. Lukhele was later dumped alive next to a stadium in Katlehong, on the East Rand.

The trial is expected to run for another two weeks.
