15 arrested for alleged drug dealing

8 July 2010, 17:12

Fifteen suspected drug dealers were arrested on the West Rand on Thursday, the Hawks said.

Spokesman for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) Captain Paul Ramaloko said the group was arrested in Fochville, Westonaria and Hill Seven in the early hours of the morning.

"The arrests were the result of credible information received and three month surveillance by the Hawks."

He said it was believed that the group was part of a bigger syndicate involved in drug dealing in the West Rand area.

Three laptops, a hand grenade, firearms and magazines, ammunition, 18 cellphones and a camera were confiscated.

The gang would face charges relating to drug dealing, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

They were expected to appear in the Westonaria, Krugersdorp and Randfontein Magistrate's Courts soon. - Sapa
