Police prevent business robbery in Kagiso

20 August 2010, 18:08

Kagiso police prevented a robbery on Friday when they arrested six men after a tip-off.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said police were investigating whether they were part of a larger syndicate.

He said there had been a number of robberies in the area recently, with incidents "almost every weekend and sometimes even during the week".

After a tip-off from the community, patrolling police stopped a vehicle on Friday, searched it and found two unlicensed firearms inside. They arrested the six occupants.

Police planed to call in local business owners who had been robbed to see if they could identify the men, Sibiya said. - Sapa

Let's see whether the police will hold identification parades before the suspects 48 hours are over?

Otherwise they get bail on Monday for possession of unlicensed firearms.
