Gang blows up three ATMs, shoots cop

Thulamahashe - Four gunmen are on the run after blasting three Absa bank ATMs and shooting a policeman in the leg in Mpumalanga.
The incident took place at the Thulamahashe shopping complex in Thulamahashe, Bushbuckridge, just before midnight on Thursday.
“A loud blast was heard in the complex and a police officer from the Mhala police station went to check what was going on. When he arrived on the scene, four gunmen in a silver Mercedes Benz started firing at him,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi on Friday.
He said the officer was wounded in the right leg when he tried to shoot back.
He said the officer was rushed to the Nelspruit Medi-Clinic for treatment and was discharged on Friday morning.
Hlathi said the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
