JOHANNESBURG - Police cannot confirm if Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir was the mastermind behind a plot to kill forensic consultant Paul O’Sullivan and senior crime intelligence officer Nkosana ‘Killer’ Ximba, but say those arrested are linked to Krejcir.

Police on Thursday arrested three suspects who will be charged with conspiracy to commit murder, theft and possession of stolen vehicles.

Police made the first arrest at a restaurant in Sandton just before midday, and then swooped on Road Lodge in Rivonia where a man and a woman were taken into custody.

Officials say one of the men arrested was wanted in connection with the Palm Ridge kidnapping case which Krejcir is currently behind bars for.

The police’s Solomon Makgale says while there is a link to Krejcir, he can’t confirm if the Czech was behind the plot.

“There’s clearly a link to Krejcir, but at this stage we can’t say what the nature of the involvement is.”

Police also seized three vehicles, three firearms, blue lights, number plates, balaclavas and sirens.

MORE ARRESTS EXPECTED

Furthermore, police have hailed the arrests as a major breakthrough which will tighten the state’s case against Krejcir.

Members of the special task team were at the Road Lodge as forensics experts examined the seized vehicles.

Makgale said the team followed up on intelligence received.

“One of them was in restaurant in Sandton and we went there and arrested the individual. We were

then told the other two were at the Road Lodge.”
He added more arrests could be expected.

KREJCIR CONTINUES BAIL FIGHT

Krejcir’s lawyers will this morning attempt to convince the South Gauteng High Court that they
should be allowed to approach the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.

High court judge Leonie Windell on Thursday refused Krejcir bail confirming a decision made by
the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court last year.

Krejcir and his co-accused are facing charges of assault, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Windell found that Krejcir could not be trusted, that he has the means to flee the country without a
valid passport and that he could interfere with witnesses.

This morning, Windell will hear argument for leave to appeal.

Krejcir's lawyers say the Czech is being kept at a correctional services facility and is no longer
in hospital.
