A fourth man was arrested in Doornkloof on Friday in connection with a 1999 love triangle murder allegedly linked to crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.

“A 52-year-old Lieutenant Colonel attached to Crime Intelligence was taken into custody this morning (Friday),” police spokesman Vish Naidoo said.

“He will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Monday...facing the same charges as his co-accused”.

The charges include intimidation, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and defeating and/or obstructing the course of justice.

He, Mdluli and two others Ä court orderly Samuel Dlomo, 49, and Colonel Nkosana Sebastian Ximba, 38, are accused of killing Oupa Abel Ramogibe 12 years ago.

He apparently received death threats after marrying Mdluli's ex-lover and was allegedly told to leave her or he would be killed.

He had opened an attempted murder case before his death.

Mdluli who was the station commissioner at Vosloorus police station, in Boksburg, on the East Rand was accused of sabotaging the investigations.

Earlier, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the investigation of Mdluli was not “in any way” linked to the case against fraud-accused Radovan Krejcir.

“The charges for Mdluli have no relation with the Krejcir matter and will not be linked at any stage,” spokesman advocate Mthunzi Mhaga told Sapa.

He was responding to media reports suggesting that Mdluli and his colleague Major-General Joey Mabasa were involved with Krejcir, who was arrested last week in connection with an alleged multi-million rand fraud scam.

Investigator Paul O' Sullivan had told journalists last week that he would go all out to ensure that Mdluli and Mabasa were put behind bars.

Mhaga would not say what O'Sullivan's role was in the Krejcir investigation or the Mdluli matter.

“I am not going to comment on O'Sullivan or what he has said.” - Sapa
