The man known as the "Facebook rapist" is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates court within the next 24 hours.
The 22-year-old is facing a string of charges including theft, fraud and two counts of rape.

He was arrested in Gauteng last week but the police's Vish Naidoo says he also has cases against him in Durban, Cape Town and the Free State.

Naidoo says at least 20 charges have been laid against him in KwaZulu-Natal alone.

However, he says police are still confirming the young man's actual identity as he is alleged to have been operating under a number of different aliases.

Naidoo says prosecutors are finalising the logistics around the other charges.

"We still have to confirm this, as discussions are ongoing at the moment with the senior public prosecutor as to where and when he should appear in court. Although he does tell us that he's really Thomas Bester, we still have to use whatever means we have at our disposal to confirm his real identity," said Naidoo.
