Man murdered on the N1

A 32-year-old man shot dead on the N1 freeway in Sunninghill on Friday had not yet been identified, Johannesburg police said.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said just after noon that police were still collecting information on the scene where the man was killed.

The man's body was found in a Nissan Sentra on the freeway between the Rivonia and Buccleuch interchanges just after 2am on Friday.

Maphakela said no one had come forward to identify the man and police were still collecting information from the vehicle to trace the owner's details.

Maphakela said fingerprints were being collected from the vehicle.

The man's vehicle had crashed into a concrete barrier wall on the north-bound freeway.

He had a bullet wound to the head. It was believed the man was shot at from another car but police could not say whether it might have been a hit or the result of road rage. - Sapa
