Police raided numerous homes and premises across Gauteng in a massive search for the killer of strip club owner Lolly Jackson.

The "King of Teaze" was shot dead on Monday night allegedly by a police informer with links to South African intelligence and security agencies.

The informer, known by his alias of George Smith, 41, is on the run after contacting Gauteng's crime intelligence head, Major-General Joey Mabasa, to say he had killed Jackson and wanted to hand himself over.

It is not known why Smith would have contacted Mabasa, or the nature of his links to the provincial crime intelligence head.

The raids in Pretoria and around Joburg came less than 24-hours after an international fugitive, Czech billionaire Radovan Krejcir, spent two hours telling police everything he knew about Smith.

It is believed that during the meeting with police Krejcir gave detailed information on Smith's movements, his family's whereabouts, friends and associates as well as premises Smith apparently uses as hideouts.

It has been learnt that hours after the meeting police recovered Jackson's white Jeep Grand Cherokee in Bedfordview where it had been abandoned. Smith is alleged to have fled in Jackson's vehicle moments after he was shot.

However, the raids are believed to have yielded nothing, with police nowhere near catching the fugitive.

Krejcir, arrested in South Africa in 2007, is wanted in the Czech Republic in connection with investigations into a multimillion-euro fraud case and an attempted murder case.

He is also thought to be linked to several major international criminal networks involved in money laundering and human trafficking, as well as clandestine crime rings that Jackson ran in which Smith was allegedly also involved.

The meeting between Krejcir and police is said to have let Krejcir off the hook with an extradition order he is fighting. The order would see him returning to the Czech Republic to answer questions in several high-profile criminal investigations.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Smith can phone Crime Stop at 086 001 0111. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Eugene Opperman said there were no new developments. Asked about the raids, he said: "I have heard about them, but don't know about them."

When the top cop had him in the net, he did not want to get out of bed and go after him.

Something seems to smell here.

Maybe the cops don't want George Smith alive!

This investigation will end up like the Brett Kebble saga!
