Air Force 'shooter' to take the stand

3 June 2010, 17:58

A Former SA Air Force sergeant accused of gunning down two fellow officers at the Thaba Tshwane Air Force College three years ago, will take the stand in the High Court in Pretoria on Friday.

Samuel Mandla Madonsela previously pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering Lt Col Authon Dominic Stevens and attempting to murder Lt Col Isak Karan during a shooting spree at the college on November 8, 2007.

He gave no explanation of his plea, but by means of statements to state witnesses claimed he had fired shots at Karan in self-defence after Karan had "belittled" and fired shots at him.

He also insisted he was nowhere near Stevens' office that day. Karan, who was seriously injured in the incident, testified that he could not remember that fateful day's events at all, but doubted if he would have fired shots as he never carried a firearm.

Several state witnesses testified they had seen Madonsela outside both Karan and Stevens' offices after loud noises were heard and the two men were found injured. Madonsela crashed his car through the exit gates at the college after the shootings.

Later that day he handed himself to police and surrendered his licensed firearm. A police ballistics expert said in a report that spent cartridges collected from Karan and Steven's offices, as well as three projectiles removed from Stevens' body during an autopsy were all fired from Madonsela's firearm. - Sapa

How many more "Bossies" soldiers and airmen do we have in the new SADNF, apart from their minister!

Now they want to add "Slug" Malema to their lists!
