A Democratic Alliance MP has appeared on a charge of rape in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court.

Magistrate Halfisa Mohamed extended his bail of R500 and postponed the matter to September 6. The case would then be transferred to the Regional Court. The MP was arrested on June 7.
No details on the charge have been given as yet.
