Man nabbed with R1.8m worth of cigarettes

A 36-year-old Portuguese man was arrested on Thursday for possession of counterfeit cigarettes worth close to R2-million in Springs, Gauteng police said.

Captain Johannes Rampora said police were tipped off and they went to raid the man's house.

"We found cigarettes worth R1,8 million at his house. He was arrested and charged with possession of illegal cigarettes."

The man was expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court on Friday. - Sapa
