Johannesburg - The Freedom Front Plus has laid a complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission against e.tv journalist Debora Patta over "intimidating journalism".
Patta ignored journalistic ethics by intimidating a student leader from the University of the Free State in current affairs programme 3rd Degree on May 25, party spokesperson Anton Alberts said on Monday.
Chrisna de Kock was being interviewed on a show about racial politics.
Alberts accused Patta and e.tv of sanctioning and promoting psychological violence.
Alberts said in a statement: "Further grounds for the complaint vary from prejudiced commentary to the infringement of Ms De Kock’s integrity. All these actions are defined in the media codes.
"During the interview with Ms De Kock, Ms Patta came across aggressively and did not in reality give her any chance to answer allegations of racism. Only after she had driven Ms De Kock to tears did she come across less aggressively."
Patta had portrayed De Kock, Afrikaners and the FF+ in a negative light, he said.
Patta called the party's complaint "unfortunate".
"We look forward to debating the matter at the BCCSA. It's unfortunate that the FF+ has chosen to lay a complaint simply because certain individuals are unable to articulate their position on race and culture."

Debora Patta could have been a vibrant correspondent in Zimbabwe!
In SA she is racist against the Afrikaners!
Somebody should explore her roots and motivations!

Debora Patta hasn't remained impartial during her interviews and openly took sides. Those she favoured she was less aggressive towards and allowed them to speak. Those she didn't favour she barely gave them a chance. So, her interviews were not fair or balanced, she appeares heavily racist and a disappointment. Maybe it is time for her to retire as she is bringing her personal life into her work.
