One killed, two injured in Silverton robbery

One person was killed and two injured during a robbery on a smallholding in Silverton, Gauteng police said on Saturday.

Warrant Officer Ben Strydom said that five armed men held up two men and a woman on a smallholding in Silverton on Saturday night. "Five armed people came through the fence. The people [from the smallholding] were outside and [the robbers] shoved them inside the house.

"There was a struggle and one male was shot and killed."

Strydom said that the other man was injured after also being shot and the woman was shot and assaulted.

The two remain in hospital.

The robbers got away with a television, computer, Hi-Fi system, cellphone and laptop.

The case is being investigated.
