Opportunity for youths

TSHIFHIWA SHONISANI

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Defence will allow all youth formations to get a taste of what national service will entail when the programme kicks off sometime next year, it said yesterday.
This follows the department’s announcement last week that ANC Youth League (ANCYL) president Julius Malema and his executive would be undergoing the military training in September.
Spokesman Ndivhuwo Mabaya said yesterday that the Young Communist League also booked their space in the programme Malema will be enrolled on.
“We want them to be ambassadors of the young people in which they will be selling the idea to others.
“The programme will not be like during apartheid where young people were taught how to use guns and make bombs.
“It will be like an internship programme, giving unemployed youth opportunities to gain experience,” said Mabaya.
He said all youth formations of political parties represented in Parliament were welcome.
The one-year national service would be credited as a qualification and recognised by all institutions of higher learning and employers.
It would also serve as a door to employment for young people without skills and experience.
Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu is on a roadshow, consulting with youth formations and other stakeholders for the next few weeks, while finalising the format of the national service programme.

Let's see who are the candidates who qualify for this programme.

Knowing Lindiwe Sisulu's communications skills it will be an obvious choice.

Could this be the beginning of the next plot to topple Zuma?
